Galveston, Texas is home to the Lone Star Rally; the largest four-day motorcycle event of its kind in the United States and since 2011 the Zach Tate Band have been thrilling Lone Star Rally audiences with their brand of original Southern Rock. Based on traditional lyric-driven, singer-songwriter songs, Zach Tate’s masterful songwriting combined with gritty electric-guitar riffs laid down by some of the best guitarists in the region including current lead-guitarist Christian Wiegand, and on past recordings with Lynn Raggio, Roy Martinez, The Mighty Orq, Robert Greaney, the late Damian Hurtado, Stuart Kinzel and Lane Coker among others, along with original 17-year band mate, veteran keyboard player, Gary Graham, have given the group a sound that has proven to be a Lone Star Rally favourite.

The band’s original music combined with a few select, re-imagined covers from the likes of The Rolling Stones, Marshal Tucker Band, Van Morrison, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Jr and more have created a loyal following in the nearly 8 million strong populous of the greater Houston/Galveston area.

Tate’s current line-up; guitarist Christian Weigand, bass player Woody Wood, drummer Robert Day and keyboardist Gary Graham have been the 23-year-old Lone Star Rally’s most consistent band, playing all four days on the two main stages of the legendary motorcycle event for the past 15 years.

Since moving to Houston, Texas from Los Angeles, California, Tate and his band have released 5 albums and several singles on Apple Music, Spotify and all digital platforms. “Playing the Sunset Strip and all over Los Angeles was a dream come true in its own way, but it doesn’t compare to Houston/Galveston in terms of finding audiences that love live music every night of the week, year round, in all genres. I’ve heard it said that there are more music venues, bars and restaurants per capita in this region than anywhere in the United States and I believe it. Music is everywhere here,” Tate said.

The band’s latest single, "Why Can’t You Just Love Me", released in July 2026 on Spotify, is more evidence the quintet is one of Houston’s tightest, most creative original bands. Minor chord layering set against a laid-back yet driving off-beat rhythm push a contagious groove, perfect for contemplating a restless heart.

“Acceptance has to be one the most important components of love. People tell you who they are upfront. Too often we don’t listen or believe what we hear and sense and go in drunk on seduction. Eventually you're sober, face-to-face with the person you said you loved. It’s up to you to take responsibility for your choices, and if you really do love them, accept them for what they do or move on; not try to change them or hold them captive in judgement,” Tate said.

A deep sentiment for a biker rally perhaps but reflective of much of the Zach Tate Band repertoire that make listeners tap their toes and toast their drinks all the while getting some soulful food for thought.

In September of 2016, ZTB teamed up with two-time Grammy Award nominee, Houston rock/metal producer and former Hunger guitarist/producer, Stephen Bogle, to record two songs: “Fallin' Apart” and “What Are You Doin' Tonight?” The songs were to be included on ZTB’s 2019 “Angels & Outlaws” CD but in the end only “Fallin’ Apart” was released as a single. “What Are You Doin’ Tonight” remained unreleased but is still performed at live shows. A video, featuring black and white still photographs by French street photographer, Guillaume Lejeas (www.shootixproduction.com) can be viewed on ZachTate.com and YouTube. ABOUT THE SONG: OUTLAW

Inspired by the “Twin Peaks Shootings” in Waco, Texas in 2015 "Outlaw" defends the point of view that the ensuing arrests and high bails set for over 150 bikers was an egregious abuse of power by Waco law enforcement.

"Everybody Gets A Little Lonely On Christmas"
Music and Lyrics by Zach Tate
Street lights, slow fallin' snow
Many miles, many years, many roads
To that girl I used to know
Really don't seem so long ago

Everybody gets a little lonely on Christmas
Everybody's got some kind of wish
Everbody's heart weighs a little heavy
For that someone they miss

Late December in Texas
Words slidin' off the page
Roof top rain drops callin' me
Thoughts of you fallin' in between

Everybody gets a little lonely on Christmas
Everybody's got some kind of wish
Everbody's heart weighs a little heavy
For that someone they miss

Galveston
Lyrics: Zach Tate Music: Zach Tate/Stuart Kinzel

I was born in a crowded city
Crowded people with their crowded heads
I saw you in that pretty summer dress
I saw you in that big ‘ol red sunset

Now how many times to myself I must remind
I can never be nobody else

So I bid you all adieu
I may be gone a year or two
I’m waitin’ for my girl in the sun
Baby you’re the one
I really hope you come
Meet me on the beach in Galveston

Comes a time we must leave behind
Ambitions and traditions we must walk the line
I float away like a bottle on the sea
I have a dream of you and me
